Frequently asked questions.
Everything you might want to know about Early Parent Loss โ a six-week live training with Hope Edelman, beginning June 17. If your question isn't answered here, write to us and a real person will get back to you.
About the training
Who is this training for?
This training is designed for anyone who helps others navigate grief โ therapists, counselors, coaches, chaplains, hospice workers, grief educators, and peer supporters. We also know that many people drawn to this work carry their own experience of early parent loss, and that this training will resonate personally as well as professionally. We welcome the whole person who shows up.
Do I need specific credentials or experience to join?
Not at all. This training is open to anyone who helps others navigate grief, whatever your background or years of experience. What matters is that you care about doing this work well.
What kind of experience is this?
This is a deep educational training for people who help others navigate grief. Over six weeks you'll build a rich understanding of early parent loss โ what it is, how it develops, and how it keeps shaping people across an entire lifetime. The Q&A each week is a space to bring your real questions from your work with others.
Does this course offer CEUs or count toward a credential?
This training is focused entirely on giving you a deep foundational understanding of early parent loss โ the kind that changes how you see and support the people you work with. It does not offer CEUs or confer a credential. There's no box to check here. Just real learning.
Will there be future cohorts if I miss this one?
This is the first time Hope is offering the training in this format and we don't have firm plans for the next cohort yet. If you'd like to be notified about future offerings, the best thing to do is email us and ask to be added to the list.
The live sessions
What time are the sessions, and what if I'm in a different time zone?
Sessions run every Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET from June 17th through July 22nd. And remember โ if the time doesn't work for you, the replay will always be there.
How long is each session?
Each session is two hours โ one hour of teaching followed by a short break and a live Q&A with Hope.
Will my camera be on?
Your camera is completely optional. Join with it on or off โ whatever feels most comfortable to you.
Can I ask Hope and David questions directly?
Yes. Each session includes a live Q&A where you can bring your questions directly to Hope. David will be available for questions during his two sessions.
Will the cohort interact with each other?
The format is centered on teaching and live Q&A with Hope, not on small-group breakouts. That said, many participants find that simply being in the room with others doing this work โ hearing their questions, recognizing themselves in their experiences โ is meaningful in its own right.
Replays & refunds
Do I have to attend live?
Not at all. Every session is recorded and you'll have ongoing access to all the replays so you can learn at whatever pace works for you. That said, there's something special about being in the room live โ the Q&A, the energy of the cohort, the chance to bring your questions directly to Hope and David.
How long will I have access to the replays?
You'll have ongoing access to all the replays inside the David Kessler Training platform. Return to the material whenever you need it โ during the cohort, after it ends, and as your work brings new questions forward.
What is your refund policy?
We offer a 10-day no-questions-asked guarantee. If the training isn't right for you, simply email us within 10 days of your purchase and we'll take care of it promptly.
Can I transfer my spot to someone else?
If something changes and you need to transfer your registration to a colleague, write to us and we'll do our best to help. We'd rather make space for someone than have a seat go unused.
Access & tech
How do I access the course after I register?
After registering you'll receive a confirmation email with your login details. From there, log in at davidkesslertraining.com/login using the email address you registered with. Your course, your Zoom link, and your replays all live inside that platform.
What do I need to join the live sessions?

I didn't receive my confirmation email โ what should I do?
First, check your spam or promotions folder, since automated emails sometimes land there. If you still can't find it after a few minutes, write to [email protected] with the email address you used to register and we'll get you sorted.
Is the training accessible? Are captions available?
Live Zoom sessions include automated captions, and replays are captioned as well. If you have a specific access need โ captions, transcripts, or anything else that would help you participate fully โ please let us know in advance and we'll do what we can.
