Louise Hay taught millions of people to look closely at their beliefs — and to imagine that changing those beliefs could change their lives.
In You Can Heal Your Heart, written with David Kessler, she turned that same wisdom toward grief and heartbreak.
On October 8, in what would have been her 100th birthday, David and Liz Hernandez sit down for a free conversation about the book — and what it teaches about healing after loss.
In this conversation, they'll explore
- How the beliefs we carry shape the way we grieve
- Why affirmations are more than positive thinking
- Healing after heartbreak — breakups, betrayals, and relationships that end
- Learning to be gentle with yourself while you're hurting
- What forgiveness looks like without pretending the loss didn't matter
- What it means to carry someone's wisdom forward

David's personal experience as a child witnessing a mass shooting while his mother was dying in a hospital helped him begin his journey. For most of his life, David has taught physicians, nurses, counselors, police, and first responders about the end of life, trauma, and grief. However, despite his vast knowledge of grief, his life was turned upside down by the sudden death of his twenty-one-year-old son.
He now facilitates a new model of online grief groups that are attended by people worldwide and he leads one of the most respected online grief certificate programs. He is the founder of Grief.com, which has over five million visits yearly from 167 countries.
